And with that, we have what we need to recreate the ritual... however flawed it may be. It must be conducted somewhere highly visible so that word reaches our target swiftly.
I've heard reports that the Legion is heavily invested in the Faronaar region of Azsuna. An excellent place to begin a ritual they won't want us to complete. The chances of us dying horribly are exceptionally high. Quest Objectives Recreate Arrexis' ritual in Faronaar and defeat Balaadur. |
After you accept the quest, Meryl will say, "I will arrange transportation at Krasus' Landing. Talk to the flight master when you are ready."

Alodi will say, "While I do not have the same strength outside of Dalaran, I will be with you "in spirit," as it were."

Go to Krasus' Landing and talk to Aludane Whitecloud, the flight master. You will have the option to tell him that you need a flight to Faronaar, "Meryl Felstorm says you have a ride for me to Faronaar." Taking this option will mount you and take you into the scenario.

Once you arrive in the area, Meryl will be waiting for you. He will say, "Ah, you've arrived! I've already begun. I trust Alodi is with you?"

Alodi will say, "I'm here, though my powers are weakened so far from the hall."
|
Meryl will say, "Do what you can, old friend. Welcome to Faronaar, a key invasion point for the Legion!"

"While I distract the defenders below, you will set up the ritual wards at key locations."
|
"Here's a spell that will conjure the wards. Three should be sufficient."
|
"When you are done, meet me at the Altar of End Times. Its location should be obvious. Good luck!"

Wander around Faronaar to find the wards. They look like the ward you picked up at the Deadwind Site.
Alodi will comment, "Filthy demons! They feed upon the blue dragonflight! Have all the defenders fallen?" |
Place the first ward near this altar and cave. This is the northernmost one.

The southernmost ward is in the middle of the path. Place it, and go find the third.
|
Alodi will comment, "That Legion vessel looming above shows what's at stake. Truly this is a fight to save our world!"

The last ward is tucked away from the path. When you reach it, Alodi will say, "Here is good. This is what the Council was supposed to prevent. How could it have gone so wrong?!"

In the center of Faronaar is the Altar of End Times. Head there to meet Meryl. When you arrive, Meryl will say, "You've done it! I can feel arcane levels rising in the area. The demons have pulled back for the moment. I'd wager they plan to hit us hard."

"This next part is tricky. We will start the ritual here to draw all that power. As we do, it's likely we'll be attacked. I'll begin placing the Mana Gems."

"You will channel on the Ritual Focus. Once we gather sufficient magic, I expect we will get Balaadur's attention."
|
"Prepare yourself, conjurer. I don't expect Blaadur to give us a particularly warm welcome."
|
At this point, you need to activate the ritual focus that Meryl has placed directly in the center. It is the purple gem surrounded by the blue ones.

Meryl will say, "There... all the components are in place. Activate the Ritual Focus when you are ready."
|
Meryl will keep things from attacking you, so all you need to do is stand there and channel. Meryl will say, "Good! Concentrate on building the Ritual Focus. I will do what I can to support you."

You will need to help Meryl destroy the waves of demons in between channeling with the Ritual Focus. The instructions for the scenario say to use the focus whenever possible until you fill up the percentage bar.

Meryl will yell, "Superb casting! Get back to the Focus. I'll keep an eye out. The power is building. They will know we are doing something momentous. Another group incoming, assist me!"

As the bar nears 100%, Meryl will yell, "Look out!"
|
You will have gotten the attention of Balaadur. He will yell, "Did you really think your ploy would work? Come to me, little mage!"
|
Go through the green portal in the middle of the Altar and you will be taken to where Balaadur is waiting for you. He will say, "For your insolence, your end will be painful and slow!"

Balaadur will become attackable, and you will need to defeat him. Alodi will say, "Never again will you use Ebonchill to kill a mage, demon!"

If you die, you will have to start over.
|
At about 25%, Balaadur will no longer be able to use Ebonchill. He will say, "Bah! I need no meager weapon to destroy you!"
At about 15%, Balaadur will say, "You possess the might of an archmage! But I'm not out of tricks yet..." |
Defeat Balaadur, and you will be able to claim Ebonchill.

After you pick up your new weapon, Meryl will yell, "The portal is closing! Get out of there!" Take the green portal that brought you here back to Meryl.

Upon your arrival back in Azsuna, Meryl will say, "Well done! Let's go before reinforcements arrive. I'll open a portal back to the hall." Take Meryl's portal back to the Hall of the Guardian to turn the quest in.
