The Lesson of the Burning ScrollEvery wisdom has a time and place, and times are changing for those of us living here on Shen-zin Su. For this lesson, I would ask two things of you.
For the first, I hold a flame in my hand. Gather your wits, and when you think you are ready, attempt to snatch the flame. Should you succeed, I want you to then climb to the top of this temple and burn the Edict of Temperance that you find there. Quest Objectives Snatch the flame from Master Shang Xi's palm, then burn the Edict of Temperance. |
The Lesson of the Burning Scroll |
Now that Master Shang Xi has determined you are worthy, he has another task for you. You are now to go upstairs and burn an old scroll of wisdom. This quest is picked up from Master Shang Xi in the same place as Stifled Pride was turned in.
The flame that Shang Xi is talking about is automatically put into your bags upon accepting this quest. You don't really have to worry about the item in this quest, as you will just click the scroll when you get to it. Turn to your right (if you're facing Shang Xi) and you will find some stairs that go up. |
There are two flights of stairs. You will go up the first and find a landing, then run around this landing to the right still and you will find the next set of stairs. Once upstairs, follow your mini-map to find the blue circle. It is on a balcony. There will be a sparkling or glowing unrolled scroll (depending on your settings for quest items) hanging on a stone. A golden gear will appear once you are in range. Click on it to set it on fire.
Return to Master Shang Xi, who is still in the doorway where you picked the quest up. |
The fact that you were able to snatch the flame so easily is no small feat.
The Edict of Temperance is a scroll of wisdom passed down from my elders' elders. Wisdom from a more peaceful time. Every lesson has its time and place, and with darkness on the horizon, the time for this particular wisdom has passed. The burning of the scroll is an acceptance of tidings to come and a promise to action. Your hand carried the flame, and I suspect that it will continue to do so in the future. |
