We need to figure out what rock Varedis is hiding under - the only way we're going to do that is by getting inside this prison.
Do what you must. Quest Objectives Gain entrance to the Violet Hold and interrogate Taldath the Destroyer to find out the location of the traitor Varedis. |
In order to gain entrance to the Violet Hold, you have to convince Warden Alturas. He's not terribly fond of Demon Hunters, and will take some convincing.
Talking to him brings up this dialogue: "I don't trust your kind, 'demon hunter'. You and the Legion are one and the same in my book." You then have two options: "There's not time to explain. Let us inside the hold, warden." or "Let us inside or I'll show you the difference." In this case, I tried to be diplomatic by choosing the first option, but it did not convince him |
If you choose that first option, he will say, "If you don't have time to explain, then I don't have time to waste on you."
Start over, and then choose to threaten him. He will respond, "Is that a threat?
Need I remind you that you are surrounded by my guards in my prison." You again have two options: "Do you want to find out?" and "What do you have to lose either way?" |
Choosing the second will enable him to allow you into the hold. "Fair enough. Let's get this over with, then."
Once he opens the door, he will turn to you and say, "You may enter the hold, but I will not put the lives of my guards at risk for your mission. Is that clear?"
Kayn or Altruis will respond to him. "As crystal, warden." You will then be able to go inside. Yes this is normally a five-man dungeon, however in this case, you will be taken through the instance into a scenario. Only you can go into this. I'm not sure if another Demon Hunter searching for the same weapon will be able to do this with you, but if the hunter weapons are any indication, you will have to do this solo.
Once inside, Alturas will order an elemental to lower the barrier keeping you at the entrance. "Lower the barrier and evacuate the hold. These Illidari wish to... exchange words... with the eredar."
The protector will do as commanded, and Alturas will lead you to the cell, "Follow me. I shall open the cell for you."
Kayn or Altruis will say, "If you would do the honors, I will stand guard to ensure no one interferes."
As you approach the cell, the eredar, Taldath will say, "<Name>?! You would stand before me after so many of your kin have fallen? Release me now and I may yet spare you."
Alturas will say, "Meet Taldath, one of the most powerful eredar we've ever encountered. I'm sure you two will be fast friends." |
Alturas will open the cell, then leave, saying, "Remember, demon hunter... you were never here."

As Taldath steps from his cell, he will say, "FOOL! You dare face me alone?!"
Attack him until he dies. Kayn or Altruis will interrogate as you beat on him. Kayn will say, "Where is he?! Where is Varedis? Tell us or die."
Taldath will respond, "Vermin! My lord wields power beyond your comprehension. He will end you!" "Your efforts mean NOTHING! Soon all of Suramar will bow to my master's will!" Suramar was the answer you were waiting for. Kayn will then instruct you to kill him, "We have what we came for. Finish him!" As Taldath dies, he will say, "The Twinblades... will be your end..." |
Suramar is not far from here.
